Collecting and display

People keep crystals as mineral specimens: a point on a shelf, a cluster, a tray of tumbles. Hardness, locality, and whether a piece is a crystal or a massive chunk are useful notes. Fluorite at Mohs 4 is a display stone more than a pocket stone. Quartz at 7 is the comparison mineral. When the job is keeping a named piece, use a display stand and specimen boxes.
